Tacloban City- Another ten courses will be added Leyte Normal University- San Isidro Campus after the law signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr., the RA No. 11968 (An act converting the San Isidro Satellite Campus of the Leyte Normal University located in the municipality of San Isidro, Province of Leyte, into a regular campus of the Leyte Normal University to be known as the Leyte Normal University-San Isidro Campus, and appropriate funds therefor).
According to Leyte 3rd District Congresswoman Atty. Anna Victoria Veloso-Tuazon LNU San Isidro Campus will have its own allocation to the General Appropriations Act (GAA) due to RA No. 11968.
According to Tuazon, LNU San Isidro Campus due to RA No. 11968 will now have short term, technical-vocational and graduate courses where they are given autonomy on what courses they will offer.
In the committee hearing they conducted, they will add 10 new courses in addition to their existing courses such as entrepreneurial education, elementary education and secondary education.
The new courses to be opened by LNU San Isidro Campus are courses not offered by the existing State Universities and Colleges in the region such as Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science and Technology and Livelihood Education, Bachelor in Physical Education, Masteral Degree in Special Education, Masteral degree in Management, Masteral Degree In Education, Masteral Diploma in English and Filipino, and Master Degree in Arts and Mathematics.
They expected the possibility of more students who will enroll in LNU San Isidro Campus next school year because of the new courses that will be opened.
Because of this, LNU San Isidro Campus should be given additional funds for additional classrooms and other facilities.
Tuazon gave the provision under RA No. 11968 that the existing personnel and professors of LNU San Isidro Campus will not be removed instead they should add personnel and professors because of the additional courses.
For now, they don’t know yet how much fund will be allocated for LNU San Isidro Campus under the GAA but it is already included in the budget hearing this year.
