Catarman N.Samar—Operating troops of Task Group “Panther” under the Operational Control (OpCon) unit of 803rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade while on Focused Military Operation (FMO) in the hinterlands of Brgy. Cuenco, Las Navas, Northern Samar encountered more or less four CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs), firefight lasted for about four minutes on May 18, 2024.
Following the encounter, on May 19, 2024, while in pursuit operations, the elements of 19th Infantry (Commando) Battalion and TG Panther seized one (1) M14 rifle at vicinity Brgy. Cuenco of the said town.
Moreover, during the pursuit operations in the same barangay, another combat group of Task Group “Panther” encountered another two (2) CNT members, further highlighting the ongoing efforts to neutralize insurgency threats in the province.
The successful engagement highlights the dedication and effectiveness of the military units involved in safeguarding peace and security in Northern Samar. The seizure of weapons and encounters with CNT elements demonstrate the commitment of government forces to disrupt and dismantle terrorist group, ultimately ensuring the safety and welfare of local communities.
