Calubian, Leyte–Four counts of murder and one count of frustrated murder have been filed at the Prosecutor’s Office in Calubian, Leyte by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- Ormoc (CIDG-Ormoc) against a police officer, one of the four suspects in the shooting attack at a Barangay Hall in San Isidro, Leyte.

The policeman, Police Officer 2 Manuelito Sidaya, alias Opaw, a resident of Barangay Capiñahan, also of San Isidro, Leyte is one of the suspected gunmen who assaulted the Barangay Hall of Dajo Diot on 24th of February this year that killed the barangay captain and two others inside, while wounding two more outside.

According to the complaint filed by the CIDG-Ormoc at the Prosecutor’s Office in Calubian, Sidaya was one of the four gunmen in the barangay hall attack where Barangay Captain Elizalde Tabon, Kagawad Paulo Al Mindero and tanod Rusty Salazar were killed on the spot.

Outside the hall, a tanod, a nephew of Tabon, was shot and wounded outside the hall, and another civilian who later succumbed to gunshot wounds while being treated at the hospital, making him the fourth fatality in the attack.

Further investigations are being carried out currently to identify and prosecute the three other suspected gunmen. —-Miriam G. Desacada
