Tacloban. City–Workers in Eastern Visayas (Region 8) are in for a Christmas gift this year, after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Reg. 8 (RTWPB-8) approved early this month increases in daily minimum wage across all sectors.

The Board ๐‘š๐‘œ๐‘ก๐‘ข ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘r๐‘–๐‘œ (on its own initiative) issued ๐–๐š๐ ๐ž ๐Ž๐ซ๐๐ž๐ซ ๐๐จ. ๐‘๐ ๐•๐ˆ๐ˆ๐ˆ-๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ on November 5, granting a P30 daily minimum wage increase for workers employed in different sectors or industries. This means that every workerโ€™s daily minimum wage increases from P405 to P435.

In the same Wage Order, the Board also approved a P500 monthly increase for every kasambahay (domestic worker) across the region, setting this sectorโ€™s monthly minimum wage within the range of P5,500 to P6,000.

Finally, the Board announced that the new wage increases shall take effect on ๐‘ซ๐’†๐’„๐’†๐’Ž๐’ƒ๐’†๐’“ 02, this year, after 15 days from its publication.

The workersโ€™ sector has yet to issue any statement on the amount of wage hikes. —-Miriam G. Desacada
