Tacloban City–A seven-year-old boy died after sustaining a gunshot wound when his father, a potpot (trike) driver, fired shots at him, his sibling, and mother during a heated argument in their house at Barangay San Pedro in Albuera, Leyte Tuesday evening.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at the OSPA-Farmers Medical Center in Ormoc City where he was rushed right after the shooting incident.

According to a police initial investigation as reported over Infinite Radio 94.9 FM, the driver identified only as Delor, apparently tired upon arriving home, got into an altercation with his wife Rosa, that ended into a heated argument.

This reportedly drove him to draw his gun and fired shots at his wife and children (aged 7 and 4) who were sleeping at the time. All three were hit and wounded.

The victims sustained injuries from several parts of their body and were first rushed by the responding Albuera Rescue Unit to the hospital in Ormoc, but it was the 7-year-old boy who did not make it alive.

The suspected gunman escaped and the Albuera Police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation, while further investigation of the incident is ongoing. —-Miriam G. Desacada
