Senator Imee Marcos calmly denied rumors that her mother, former first lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos is now in critical health condition and may even had passed away already.

The senator, the eldest daughter of the 93-year-old Imelda, declared to the Tacloban media on Saturday that her mother is “still very strong and kicking.”

In a news conference that day at the VIP Lounge of the DZR Airport in Tacloban before her flight back to Manila, Imee said the rumors of her mother’s failing health were “not true,” and that some reports in the social media about her mother’s passing are “vicious.”

The senator said she wanted to inform the Leytenos, that the reports are false. She said: “She (Imelda) is still exercising her physical therapy with much pushing. Tuloy-tuloy pa ang pagkain ng litson. I think, okey man siya.”

The female senator from Ilocos however confirmed the presence of these false news circulating in the social media since last week. “I don’t need to be on top of these vicious false news,” she said as she urged the media to be careful in taking up reports without thorough verification and validation first.

Imee was in Eastern Visayas for a visit in three provinces (Samar, Leyte, and Biliran), as part of the priority agriculture program in the region, under the administration of her brother PBBM—Miriam G. Desacada
